Family and adolescent program

SOS provides evidence-based support for families, parents, youth, caregivers, and individuals impacted by substance use and recovery. We approach recovery through a holistic, whole-family perspective that recognizes the interconnected needs of each person involved.

Nurturing parenting program

Parenting class for those in recovery. Intended to help participants with: self-awareness, child development, heightening self-esteem, strengthening confidence, and building healthier family relationships. We offer both:

  1. In-person class for fathers (Dover center, Every Friday 11am-12pm)
  2. Virtual class for all parents

in-person Support groups

Parents in recovery face unique challenges, but they don’t have to do it alone. We provide support groups for parents in our centers to meet in-person and provide each other support and a safe space to reflect, connect, and bond.

Invitation to change (itc) Meeting

The Invitation to Change (ITC) Approach is a holistic helping framework based in science and kindness, designed for the families and loved ones of people struggling with substance use, as well as the professionals who support them.

This meeting occurs weekly in our Dover center, Mondays at 5:30-6:30pm.

virtual family support groups

SOS offers two weekly virtual support groups specifically for family members of loved ones who struggle with substance use or are in recovery. This group meets:

  • Every Tuesday at 6pm
  • Every Thursday at 8pm

Collaborative Proactive Solutions

Developed by Dr. Ross Greene, CPS is a trauma‑informed, evidence‑based approach that supports caregivers and youth in understanding and addressing challenging behaviors by focusing on unmet needs and skill‑building rather than punishment. SOS is in the process of developing and implementing custom curriculum and training and intends to integrate this within all family programming as well as offer training to partnering agencies.

Family Group Facilitator Training

Learn the skills needed to lead effective family support groups in recovery spaces. This interactive virtual training covers group safety, communication, trauma-informed care, co-facilitation, suicide prevention, and facilitator self-care. Trainings are available quarterly, learn more on our Eventbrite training page.
