Sam brings over a decade of lived experience and five years of professional work in harm reduction to their role at SOS. With a philosophy grounded in compassion, dignity, and justice, Sam shows up deeply committed to meeting people where they’re at. Her past work includes managing a harm reduction respite for women and trans folks at Mass & Cass in Boston, which strengthened her understanding of the intersections of public health and social justice.
Sam is especially passionate about harm reduction, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, grief support, housing-first models, and sex work advocacy. Sam has also contributed to the field by founding a harm reduction respite in Boston, leading mutual aid efforts, and helping shift workplace language and policy to be more inclusive and trauma informed. Most recently, Sam is starting a Trans Inclusive Women’s Journaling Recharge Group at SOS, creating yet another safe and supportive space for healing and growth.
Originally from north of Boston in Salem, MA, Sam now enjoys a balance of creative and community-focused activities in their free time. Whether painting, making music, or playing in bands at local DIY venues, Sam loves using art as a way to connect and express. Outside of work and music, Sam spends her time with her dog, loved ones, and the vibrant communities she helps foster.
