Jim Duffy credits longevity in personal recovery to the world of harm reduction. After several years of working in outreach and syringe service programs in the Boston area, Duffy has turned his focus to promoting novel harm reduction interventions through Smoke Works, securing data-driven interventions such as injection alternatives for SSPS nationwide. As a former drug user, a member of the queer community, and a person living with HIV, Duffy’s experience drives him to bring equity in opportunity to the world of recovery. Jim joined the board of SOS in 2022 and provides leadership and insights on harm reduction programs and strategies. He is recognized nationally for his work around safer smoking supplies and prevention of HIV and HCV.
